Go to the Peripheries
With San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez, Archbishop and Martyr in Odium Fidei, and in rememberance of Rev. James Hardon, S.J.
When Saint Oscar’s corpse was exhumed,
his organs were found to be incorrupt
despite the absence of skin to shield them.
Here, at the peripheries,
we find all those for whom the walls
ought to have remained up.
Saint Oscar, please pray
for the fruit of ancient labors–
for the restoration of our edification
such that the perimeter
about the congregation
about the iconostasis or chancel screen
about the sanctuary
about the altar
about the tabernacle
about the veil
about the blessed sacrament
beneath the Crucifix
might be restored
of minor orders anew.
Christ upon your Cross,
I embrace mine–so much deserved–
and follow you.
